Ian Thurston's 2007 Honda Civic Coupe review

Zippy, love the EX sound system with the stock subwoofer - adds the right amount of kick. Fun to drive, has terrific handling and acceleration (manual transmission). I'm a little lead footed from a stop so I get about 32 MPG vs. the advertised 38. The back seat isn't too uncomfortable to my adult passengers, they didn't mind the seating. The aerodynamics are such that driving highway speeds with the windows open doesn't blow wind in your face or create a doppler effect on your ears. I like the Aux jack for plugging my iPhone into and talking hands free thru the stereo. The MP3-Ready CD player is also a great addition, no waiting for it to load/decode MP3's, it just works. It's like I have a 12 disc changer! I've always loved this feature on previous after-market car stereos I've installed in vehicles of mine.

Move the parking brake lever a "little" to the right. Some folks have to rest their leg against it and it can hurt after a while. Maybe position it on the opposite side of the gearshift.

Maybe add a little more sound deadening material on the underside to prevent road noise, but given how low it is already, the sound isn't that bad. Not even noticable with the radio on.

Lisa Marie's 2007 Honda Civic Coupe review

My friend Jeff has a Civic Coupe in bright blue and he really loves it. He is one of the last twelve people on the planet who still insists on driving a stick (myself included) and said that he had to call around to five different dealers until he found a blue one with a stick. He got to the dealership literally as his car was being rolled off the truck.

Jeff's commute is entirely within the city and he still manages to get over 30 mpg. We used his car to drive to Sacramento because it got such great gas mileage. I think that we got about 36 or 37 on that trip which is pretty amazing when you consider that the new Prius gets about 50 and it's a hybrid that costs a lot more.

I really love the design. It's still a Civic - cute and fun and dependable - but sportier. And I like that it's not overly sporty. This is a good, fun car that isn't trying too hard. In the 4-door model, I could even fit my 6'5'' father in the back seat. That's not always an easy feat!

My only big gripe on this car is the shifter. Not a very smooth transition when changing gears. Very clunky. And when driving a sporty car, a smooth shifter is a must! Also, I don't really care for the interior in this version of the Civic. It looks busy and too futuristic to me. I liked the interior in the older model Civics better. I'm not a big fan of digital speedometers either.

Despite all the great stuff about this car, it's not my first choice for long road trips. The bucket seats are a little less than comfortable on long drives (I think it has to do with the shape of the headrests). I find if you try to rest your head on the back of the headrest, it just constantly bounces off of it. I feel like a bobble-head. :)

Great to drive, responsive, yet excellent fuel economy (35mpg each tank). My 2007 EX is a manual with navigation. Now with 50+k miles, have only needed to do the routine scheduled maintenance, no rattles, no breakages.

    Improvement Suggestions

    Better headlights.

Mine is the 4 door "Si" model- the sportier one and I LOVE IT! The suspension and handling is great and it has the power/speed/torque? that I was looking for. It has an mp3 jack, it's a stick shift and it's red! What more could I ask for? :)

I think my mpg is around 26 but I'm not sure. I drive it hard sometimes and that's to be expected of of a sports edition anyway. And the back looks big enough for a babyseat when that time comes.

    Can't think of anything :)
