Maybach

Originally founded in 1909 as a manufacturer of industrial engines for rail cars and Zeppelin air ships, Maybach went on to produce some of the most opulent luxury cars of the 1920’s and 1930’s. The marque was resurrected in the early 2000s by Mercedes-Benz as a way to compete with Rolls-Royce and Bentley in the prestigious ultra-luxury market.

Today, the brand is known for its two lavish luxury sedans, the Maybach 57 and Maybach 62. The 62 features a longer wheelbase and more legroom. Maybach claims that the 57 is more likely to be driven by its owner whereas the 62 is more likely to be piloted by a chauffeur.

The 62 also offers rear seats with a massaging feature and a headliner that twinkles like a starry night courtesy of imbedded fiber optic lights. Celebrity owners include professional athletes, Alex Rodriguez and LeBron James and hip-hop icon, Jay-Z.

Maybach shares a US headquarters with Mercedes-Benz in Montvale, New Jersey.
