Description
There are four models of Maybach, two short-wheelbase and two long-wheelbase that serve as the starting point for a customer's order. All Maybachs are built to the buyer's specifications, and the options and customizations are seemingly endless.
Let's start with the basics: The 57 measures 5.7 meters (225 inches) and the 62 measures 6.2 meters (243 inches). The base models feature a 5.5L V12 twin turbo engine with 543 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The 57S and 62S upgrade that engine to a 6.0L V12 twin turbo with 604 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. All of these configurations are mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.
Maybachs utilize an electrohydraulic brake system, electronic stability, ABS and Parktronic parking assist. The Maybach also uses a passive safety system to asses the severity of a crash and then determine the most appropriate response. Airbags are fitted all around, and the reclining seats in the Maybach 62 have crash-responsive seatbacks.
Climate control is automatic, with separate systems for front and rear. Seats are heated and upholstered in Grand Nappa leather; the rear seats in the 62 recline and extend. A 21-speaker Bose system is standard, as is the rear refrigerator, window curtains and those champagne flutes.
Optional features for the 57 and 62 include electronic rear door closers, electronic sliding curtains for the rear seats, and solar-powered cabin ventilation. The 57S options go further: leather CD bag, dust cover with Maybach logo, sunroof, heated steering wheel, voice-operated control system in your choice of languages, and a pennant holder and staff. The 62S has even more options, like a tissue dispenser in the console, curtains for the back window, retractable partition between rear passengers and driver, makeup mirror, panoramic glass sunroof with solar module, and a reversing camera.
